I hope you will join with me as we explore many topics together. I assume that you have either read my book, ‘The Dead Don’t Hurt Us’, or have a copy in front of you as you have found the ‘donthurtus’ website. If you have had a chance to read the novel I would be happy to hear your views on the adventure. If you have still to read it …go on!
Let’s start with the title of the book; a bit scary for some. I hope you have taken time to view the video on the home page if so you will understand the choice of title.
When we were working in South America, Paul Clark the Director of Scripture Union (SU), Peru told us about the abandoned boys that SU was rescuing from the streets of Lima. Paul discovered that many of them slept in the cemeteries of the Peruvian capital. Puzzled, he asked the boys why this was, after all children of seven, or eight years old would normally be frightened by graveyards. The boys explained ‘the dead don’t hurt us’!
Before my first visit to Peru, I was unaware that so many children were abandoned to life on the streets; the discovery that they sheltered in sewers and graveyards was for me so disturbing.
Let me know if you like the title or if not lets have some suggestions.
